Happy New Year 2014! May this year be fruitful for all of you, may everyone accomplish success in every future endeavor. May all your dreams come true. And so may Dreams of an Architect keep on inspiring you with the best of arts and architecture...
Welcome, dear readers! There have been more than 9 months since I started writing the blog and now the time has come to make a review of the 'Dreams of an Architect'. I hope that the 60 posts written in 2013 were useful and inspirational for all of you interested in architecture and arts. I tried to cover various themes in different series of articles, from drawing tips to architectural presentations. I want to thank everyone for your support and appreciation! In 9 months of activity, the blog recieved more than 18.200 pageviews and 57 comments. I think this is an encouraging start, especially if we take into account the relatively small number of articles I've got to post here. But I hope that 2014 will be better in all aspects and you'll find your inspiration reading the upcoming posts!!
As I mentioned in the introductive article 'Welcome to an Art World', I consider architecture one of the most complex and interactive fields, being in accordance with all other arts, with science, engineering, and, maybe the most important factors, with the state of society, with the mentalities and traditions, emotions and ideas which needs to be interpreted and expressed visually. Architecture divides and unites the space, creating shapes, playing with light and integrating the urban environment into the nature. Architecture is the literature of pencil lines, the symphony of perspectives. The everlasting utilitary art.

I'll come back to the meanings of architecture and the reasons for which I chose this as my career in the future articles. Now, let's have a look on the main topics that have been approached on the blog in 2013.
- The series about Middle East have been a great success among the readers. I chose to present this area not only because it probably has the most outstanding samples of modern architecture, but also for the original styles and motifs encountered there. The Middle Eastern culture is complex and the passion for arts and sense of perfection have been felt there from the earliest times. Definitely something worth being explored more, Middle Eastern architecture has made the subject of 16 articles. Top 10 Cities in the Middle East - Riyadh is the second most viewed post on the blog, with 562 pageviews.
- Surprising or not, the post about my first use of Google SketchUp has the biggest number of pageviews (810 by now). To draw a conclusion from this aspect, architecture on computer seems to be a top interest nowadays. Digital assistance for the modern architectural projects has become indispensable. Is this beneficial for architecture? Undoubtedly, it is, but I am still of the opinion that architecture involves more.
- The drawing-related articles, presenting my artworks and their evolution have also been highly appreciated by the art lovers. Through different social networks (Facebook, Google+, Instagram) I got to make my works more popular and to help others with advice on different drawing techniques. Again, much thanks for everyone who let me know his or her opinions, who shared, liked or comment on my posts. All these were a great encouragement to me, and I hope that my artistic evolution will live up to your expectations from now on too!
All in all, I think this year has had some great achievements. I started the blog, I focused on drawing and architecture much more than before and I got to know people from all over the world, showing appreciation and interest in my artwork. I visited 3 foreign countries: Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands, from which I keep priceless memories and wonderful pictures (displayed in the series Travelling and Photography).
This review could not be complete without mentioning the people who made my year special and who particularly encouraged me to go on with my initiatives.
Andreea Gheorghe, one of my best friends and an excellent Eurovision blogger, was the one who inspired me to start this blog. Not only do we share the passion for writing in English, but she is also an amazing friend, talented, dedicated and responsible. The success she achieved with her blog was a great example for me. So I went for it, and 'Dreams of an Architect' is now a 'dream' come true.
Cosmin Neacsu is my only friend who shares my passion for architecture and drawings. Just like myself, he wants to study architecture. The fact that he appreciates my drawings has meant a lot for me, motivating me to improve my drawing skills and to focus more on architecture. The drawing of Tower Bridge was a surprise gift for him:
Stay tuned for the next article in the 'Drawings' series! I'll soon post our collaboration - a hyperrealistic drawing of one of the most spectacular modern cities. Coming up soon!
So, what are your expectations for 2014? What articles would you like to read next on the blog? What do you think of the ones from 2013? Let me know in a comment below. Enjoy a year full of art, dreams and achievements!!
